Worship Through Music

The worship of God through music begins each Sunday service at Pleasant Grove. A combination of congregational singing (using both traditional hymns and contemporary praise songs), choir specials, praise team worship, instrumental solos/duets, CD sound tracks, and DVDs are used in giving praise to the Lord. Our pianist, Paula Melhorn, and organist, Glendon Jackson, are vital parts of the music program.

Adult Choir

Our adult choir consists of 25-30 members whose purpose is to lead the congregation in worship and to praise our Lord through the singing of traditional hymns, contemporary praise, and Southern gospel music. Through the wonderful talents of our choir, we are honored to share the love of Jesus and the good news of His salvation.

Praise Team

A recent addition to the music ministry, the praise team leads the congregation and choir in contemporary praise music and helps prepare hearts for the worship of God through the preaching of the Scriptures.

Special Performances

In addition to leading in worship each week, our adult choir performs special seasonal programs. The Living Christmas Tree is in its twenty-fifth year and consists of three nights of music and drama and includes 65-70 church members. The choir also has a special program at Easter. Memorial Day, the Fourth of July, and Thanksgiving also are celebrated in music. These special times of music are the choir’s way of reaching the community to share the good news of Christ.
If you enjoy singing or playing a musical instrument, we invite you to become a part of our music program. The adult choir practices each Wednesday night at 7:45 in the choir loft. Prayer is an important part of each practice session. Fellowship is also shared on outings to other church programs as well as special productions at area drama theaters. All church members are encouraged to participate in the music program through solos, duets, and ensembles, both in voice and instrumentally, regardless of whether they are members of the choir.
